PROFILE

Conwell Architects is a Brisbane-based architectural practice established in 2013, with particular experience in education architecture and school masterplanning.

We work with independent schools and other clients across South East Queensland and regional Queensland, providing architectural services from strategic masterplanning and concept design through documentation, approvals, procurement and construction.

As a small principal-led practice, clients have direct access to senior architectural staff throughout the project. Our work focuses on practical, cost-effective design that responds to place, pedagogy, climate, budget and the long-term needs of its occupants.

APPROaCH

All of our projects take on first principles approach to design with an aim of equal consideration to occupant needs, integrated technologies, pedagogy delivery, architecture that responds to it's surrounds, interiors that engage and sensitive contextual design.

The scale of the practice offers clients a high level of principal staff engagement and communication across all projects and at all stages. The studio nature of the practice allows for shared knowledge and continual informal reviews of the work.

We seek cost effective building solutions through a creative use of materials, light and volume, in preference to elaborate finishes or complex detailing. The principles of passive environmental design are inherent in all of our projects and are embedded within the initial siting considerations through to building services, building envelope and landscape.
